Nick loves the role music plays for young people, their families, and our community. Supporting youthful music enthusiasts for over 13 years at The Northern Sound System, a phenomenal music facility north of Adelaide in South Australia, Nick has proven his commitment to building projects and pathways for bright futures.

A big fan of making music, Nick’s past projects have led to lots of fun writing, recording and performing around Australia and overseas. His most recent project Heaps Good Friends were lucky to rack up over 3 million streams and play in some of Australia’s most iconic venues. He’s most comfy in his home studio though, chasing melody dragons and adding distortion to vintage synths.

Aaron is the producer of Adelaide Guitar Festival’s regional touring program ‘On the Road’ an annual series of free live performances in regional and remote communities around South Australia which won the Best Regional Venue or Activation award at the 2023 SA Music Awards.

He has worked as a creative producer of arts festivals and large-scale entertainment events for 19 years including Southbank Centre London, Woodford Folk Festival, Brisbane Festival, Aotearoa NZ Festival of the Arts and the 2012 London Olympics.

Since relocating to Adelaide in 2018 he has developed a strong network within the local live music industry as an event programmer, producer, tour manager and as the founder of Hills Folk Music which curates’ original live music events for the Adelaide Hills community.

David is a senior journalist at InDaily and CityMag, with more than eight years of business reporting experience covering a variety of topics including entrepreneurship, small businesses, economics, retail and hospitality. He has a keen interest in the arts and music scene and is an advocate for a thriving creative industry. On top of his regular reporting, David writes about music and culture, producing reviews, reporting on venue closures and the issues facing the music industry, and continually championing local artists, with a focus on representation at music festivals. With a Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor of Laws (Hons), David is an experienced professional with a genuine passion for Adelaide’s music industry, which he is involved in not only through his writing, but his regular weekend gig attendance.

Zara is a senior writer at The Note – Adelaide’s leading music publication – where she has profiled some of the world’s biggest music names and, most importantly, platformed SA’s brightest emerging talent. Finding ways to champion the local scene through print is her favourite thing to do, which is why you’ll find her at gigs weekly, sourcing diverse new sounds, bands and artists to spotlight. 

Through The Note, she has called attention to issues and opportunities facing SA’s music industry in opinion-based cover features and interviews with figures like Premier Peter Malinauskas. In 2023, Zara’s work at The Note was recognised when she was nominated for Best Live Music Journalist at the National Live Music Awards.

Tiff has over 30 years of hands-on industry experience in the local music sector. Her involvement spans the full South Australian music lifecycle, including board leadership, governance and strategy, operations, business development, event management, and various creative outputs, including weekly live-to-air broadcast. Currently, Tiff sits on the board of Three D Radio, an important part of the South Australian music ecology. Driven by a commitment to advancing our local music community and with a keen eye for emerging talent, Tiff regularly participates in the development and mentorship of aspiring musicians, sharing her knowledge and fostering the next generation of musicians and those musically aligned.

Nancy Bates is a First Nations composer, writer, educator, and proudly Barkindji. With cultural ties to communities running the length of the Baarka, she is river woman living a multifaceted life, intertwining music, education, and advocacy to weaponise and resist the colonial continuum. Recognising her exceptional contributions to the music industry, Nancy Bates has been honoured as an Ambassador for the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA). In 2022, Bates was awarded the Best Music Award Adelaide Fringe Festival, and in 2023 received the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Critic’s Choice Award and a Star on the Walk of Fame.

David Turley is an international producer, songwriter, artist manager, mentor and artist. With over 25 years of experience working in the music industry, David has had recording and publishing contracts in multiple countries including the UK, Germany and Australia. He is currently signed with Kobalt publishing for his producing and songwriting work. In 2019 David returned to his home town of Adelaide where he continues to work with international artists and local artists at his studio in Willunga. He has also worked on number of projects with local organisations inc. Northern Sound System, Carclew, Music Development Office, APRA, Music SA & Base10.

Felicity is the Strategic Project Lead in City Culture at the City of Adelaide, producing city activation and enabling live music through partnerships and projects such as Ruck n Roll, Friday Night Live, CreaTech and On the Cusp Cabaret. Felicity is a sociologist by qualification and has worked in government, philanthropy and non-profit sectors including a national role at The Foundation for Young Australians in Victoria with First Nations and multicultural communities. Her advocacy for live music and cultural heritage, through the City’s Live Music Action Plan, resulted in new funding opportunities, support for the UNESCO City of Music designation and the creation of the City of Music Laneways Project. A member of the former Music Industry Council (SA) she has designed new programs for musicians and venues such as Venue Backline Incentives, Music in the Square and Eat Your Greens. A lover of the shared experience of live music and dance.

The current General Manager of the Adelaide UNESCO City of Music office, Joe Hay’s journey is one of uniting diverse perspectives and driving meaningful change. With a background spanning politics, social marketing, arts, and global relations, he adeptly translates vision into action. A catalyst for transformative reforms, Joe has propelled Adelaide’s creative sectors forward. His pioneering initiatives include changing the way governments around the country support music and the arts, modernising the state’s licensing and planning laws to support live music, small venues, and activation, reform and support for tech startups, and advocating for systems that enable, empower, and celebrate creativity.

Kate is the label manager at Wollongong based record label, Farmer & The Owl. She has worked across releases for Hockey Dad, Bad//Dreems, Moaning Lisa, TOWNS, Paradise Club, Charbel, Kid Pharaoh & numerous other artists on the roster. Prior to her role at F&O, Kate was Assistant Manager to HOLY HOLY (& previously Olympia and Mid City) at Sydney-based management company, Tiny Monster. She also worked at Winterman & Goldstein Management (The Preatures, The Creases), and in the community radio sector at the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap). She’s a devout Sharon Van Etten and Alvvays fan.

A multi-talented radio presenter, producer and programmer, Ash has helped discover many emerging artists, given them their first play on national radio and shared their stories with the nation.

Her weeknight show has created space for all genres and backgrounds to be heard on a national level, with an emphasis on up-and-coming local talent. From on air to online, Ash’s mission is to get great Aussie music heard.

Her passion and love for music has resonated with artists and audiences at home and abroad. She’s worked internationally in music, radio and live events at MTV, Nickelodeon, Global Radio London and at Australian radio stations NOVA, 4ZZZ, and Sea FM. Ash is a true local music fan and a much-loved and trusted industry voice.

As the Local Music Programmer for Groovin The Moo Festival, Claire is at the forefront of Australia’s emerging music scene, where she is passionate about supporting local talent and accessible all-ages live music events. Since starting as a FReeZA volunteer at 15, Claire’s six years experience in the industry now ranges from having been an artist and label manager for Push Records, curator of multiple Sidney Myer Music Bowl shows and booker for GroovinThe Moo. Claire’s dedication towards understanding the nuanced challenges facing the music sector, and attention to new trends, has been recognised by The Push Inc through its ‘25 Under 25 – Best and Brightest New Faces of Australian Music 2022’.

Former triple j broadcaster Dom Alessio does a lot with music. His day job is working with Sounds Australia as their Digital Export Producer. Dom’s role is to drive the digital strategy of Australia’s export office, as well as identify international opportunities for Australian artists and industry in the digital space. He’s also a regular guest on ABC Radio, occasionally a DJ and partial to hosting a music trivia night.

Mardi Caught carries a weight of global and domestic experience, operating as a leader in the Australian music industry for nearly 30 years. Across her career, Mardi’s held multiple senior executive positions within Warner, EMI and Sony in Australia and the UK. In the early ‘00s she took a diversion into broadcasting, assuming the role of VP of Talent and Music at MTV UK. Mardi established The Annex in 2018 and since then the company has worked on campaigns for artists including Royel Otis, Lime Cordiale, Jess Mauboy, Bluey, Genesis Owusu, Matt Corby, Melanie C, Tash Sultana, Alice Ivy, Maanyung and Hiatus Kaiyote.
