ENTER THE 2017 SAM AWARDS

Entries are now open for the 2017 SAM Awards. This year we have split the awards into two sections – The People’s Choice Awards and the Peer-Voted Awards.

Below you will find THREE SEPARATE ENTRY FORMS which cover all 2017 categories. Please make sure you check which categories you are eligible for and fill out the correct entry form(s).

ENTER THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS

The People’s Choice Awards are genre-based awards assessed by the voting public on www.themusic.com.au/samawards between Thursday 10 August – Thursday 31 August. Eligibility criteria is outlined in the entry form below. Artists can enter both The People’s Choice Awards as well as the Peer-Voted Awards, as long as they meet the outlined eligibility criteria in the entry form.

  • ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • All applicants must have at least 50% of their band members residing in South Australia or they must identify and promote themselves as being South Australian.
  • All applicants must have commercially released the entered work between 1 July 2016 & 30 June 2017
  • All submissions to the People's Choice Awards must be original compositions. The work entered must be a single, and only one entry can be submitted per artist to the People's Choice Awards.
  • ENTRANT INFORMATION

  • Please include a short biography. This will go on www.themusic.com.au where public voting takes place from Thursday 10 August - Thursday 31 August.
  • AWARD INFORMATION

  • Please make sure your song is uploaded to a working PUBLIC Soundcloud link and is embeddable. The link you provide will be embedded on www.themusic.com.au from Thursday 10 August - Thursday 31 August for public voting. If the link provided doesn't work your entry will not be eligible. You can remove the song once finalists have been announced on Wednesday 4 October.

 

ENTER THE PEER-VOTED AWARDS (music categories)

The SAM Awards are assessed by a peer judging panel between Thursday 10 August – Friday 13 October. Details on the judging panel and judging process can be found here. Eligibility criteria is outlined in the entry form below. Artists can enter both The People’s Choice Awards as well as the Peer-Voted Awards, as long as they meet the outlined eligibility criteria in the entry form.

  • ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • All applicants must have at least 50% of their band members residing in South Australia or they must identify and promote themselves as being South Australian. For applicants to the Best Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island Artist category at least 50% of band members must identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
  • All applicants must have commercially released the entered work between 1 July 2016 & 30 June 2017
  • All submissions to the SAM Awards must be original compositions. For submissions to Best Song / Best New Artist / Best Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island Artist the work entered must consist of one song. For submissions to Best Group / Best Male Artist / Best Female Artist / Best Release to work entered must be an album or EP of at least 4 original different tracks (remixes of the same song are not included).

  • Best Song / Best New Artist / Best Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island Artist submissions only
  • Links to both Soundcloud and Spotify will be accepted. If on Soundcloud, please make sure your song is uploaded to a working PUBLIC Soundcloud link. If the link provided doesn't work your entry will not be eligible.
  • Best Group / Best Female Artist / Best Male Artist / Best Release submissions only
  • Links to both Soundcloud and Spotify will be accepted. If on Soundcloud, please make sure your entire release is uploaded to a working PUBLIC Soundcloud link. If on Spotify, please make sure the entire release is available. If the link provided doesn't work your entry will not be eligible.

  • ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • All applicants must be located in South Australia or they must identify and promote themselves as being South Australian. All events must take place in South Australia.
  • Depending on your category entered, all applicants must have released the entered work / held the event / been active between 1 July 2016 & 30 June 2017
  • All submissions for Best Cover Art or Best Music Video must be either submitted by the cover artist or music video director and must include their contact details, not those of the musical artist. These two categories are awarded to those individuals/businesses, not the musicial artists.
  • ENTRANT INFORMATION

  • You can enter as many of these categories as you are eligible for, based on above Eligibility Criteria
  • Enter the name of who this submission is for: your studio / festival / music event / venue / management company / details of cover art (title and musical artist) / details of music video (title and musical artist)
  • For those entering the Best Cover Art and Best Music Video categories please provide a link to your work to be viewed online by judges. This needs to be active until Wednesday 4 October so the material can be judged.
